PREVENT DENTAL DISEASEGreater than 50% of the pets we examine have significant dental disease. Broken and infected teeth lead to chronic pain and dental infections are a source of stress on other body systems. Plaque and tartar buildup on your pet’s teeth harbor harmful bacteria – the bacteria can enter the bloodstream through the large network of blood vessels located near the gums and teeth. Recent studies have documented that certain heart, liver, kidney and immune system diseases may be associated with these bacteria.
Routine dental exams are an important part of your pet’s health. General anesthetic is administered to facilitate the treatment process. Our licensed technicians are trained to scale and polish the teeth, then the veterinarian will perform a thorough exam to determine if any extractions or other treatments are necessary.
Laser therapy, analgesia, antibiotic therapy and periodontal treatments treat various dental problems – the course of action is as unique as your pet. To help maintain the results, you will also be shown how to brush your pet’s teeth at home!
